What are Narrow Weaving Materials?

May 17, 2024 / 118

Narrow weaving products produced with different narrow weaving machines and knitting techniques have many uses. They are used in many areas from ready-to-wear to home textiles, from shoes to health products, from automobile parts to parts of products used in the defense industry. Narrow weaving products, which are widely used among so many different sectors, also have their own varieties. So what are the Narrow Weaving Materials that can be used in different areas?

Although it is divided into two main categories as elastic and non-elastic, there are also different product categories such as ribbon, cord, polyester, knitted, rubber. Products are produced according to the yarn types used in narrow woven fabrics. There are also different woven products such as ribbon, ribbon, herringbone or bed ribbon produced from different yarns such as cotton, polyester, viscose, nylon, polypropylene.

The most important reason for the differentiation of elastic or non-elastic according to the products used in the clothing industry is the purpose of use. Narrow woven products produced in elastic or non-elastic forms are used in the armholes, collars, waist or hem areas of the clothes. In addition, designs can be created from these products to create a stylish look and add aesthetic pleasure to the clothes. Narrow woven products produced for both day and night clothes also have functions such as joining, gathering, tying or fitting the pieces to fit the body. In addition to these products, there are narrow weaving products used in the production of many pieces such as shoes, bags, hats or accessories.

Narrow weaving products, which are created using many different narrow weaving machines and methods, have many different uses. Depending on these uses, the material selection of the product to be produced is very important. Yarn selection should be made according to the area of use. Before addressing the types of yarns used in narrow weaving machines, it will be useful to have brief information about yarns. Various yarns used in narrow weaving machines provide fabric properties such as crimp, pleat, elasticity, stiffness or texture. While these features that the fabric gains make the fabric look rich and aesthetic, they also allow it to be used in more areas.

How are Narrow Woven Products Produced?

While producing narrow weaving products, production is carried out in accordance with the area of use and need, as well as the production of products in different yarn types varies depending on the need. Let’s take a look at “How are Narrow Weaving Products Produced?” The yarns to be used in fabric making can be used raw or dyed depending on the need and usage area. It is decided to prefer raw or dyed yarn in terms of cost, processability and usage area.

While producing narrow woven products, the use of artificial yarns in large quantities and the use of natural yarns, especially cotton, has attracted attention. Cotton has ranked first in terms of health and quality because it does not have an allergic structure. It is frequently preferred because of its superior moisture and sweat absorbency, its resistance to washing, its softness and its naive texture. In addition, the fact that it has a dyeable structure according to need and demand provides an added advantage. Different products can also be produced by combining cotton with different types of yarn such as polypropylene. This blend, which is frequently used in the production of sensitive medical health equipment such as bandages and band-aids, especially in the health and first aid sector, has a wide range of uses. In addition to its use in the entire clothing industry, including underwear and outerwear, it is also used for shoes, bags, home textile products, packaging and decoration purposes.

Among the most important raw material sources of the narrow woven fabric sector are yarns produced from continuous yarns. Many productions such as ribbons, ribbons and labels are realized with these yarns. These products, which are frequently used both in the clothing industry and in areas such as decoration and decoration, are the products that narrow weaving produces the most. The yarn types used in the narrow weaving sector vary according to the intensity of the production made with continuous yarns. Although different materials such as polyester, polyamide, elastomeric, polypropylene are used, the most widely used product is polypropylene.

When the usage area of the products produced according to the yarns used in the production of narrow weaving is examined, it is observed that the yarns with the highest durability are obtained from polyester and polypropylene products with the appropriate low budget. The most important feature to be considered when choosing yarn is that it has an affordable price. In addition to this feature, the quality and easy availability of the yarn has made the use of these two types of yarn widespread. When choosing yarn depending on the intended use;

  • Polyamide yarns are mostly used in the production of narrow woven products used in industry, agriculture, defense industry and automotive industry. It can also be preferred for the production of medical materials in the health sector and for products used in the production of sportive products.
  • Cotton yarns; with its many advantages, it is the most preferred yarn for narrow woven products used in the clothing industry and medical field.
  • Elastomeric yarns, on the other hand, are mostly used in home textile products or in the clothing industry due to the curling, shirring and rubber properties they provide to the fabric, but they are also preferred for the production of products used for sportive purposes.
